Softball Recap: Lourdes Academy Comes Up Short

Lourdes Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against St. Brendan on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the St. Brendan Sabres by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lourdes Academy of the 13-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Cristina Alfonso made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Lourdes Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for St. Brendan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lourdes Academy will take on Mater Bay Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mater Bay Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for St. Brendan, they will square off against Somerset Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
