Volleyball Recap: University Comes Up Short

University lost against Bishop Moore back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Hornets, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since April 1st.

University took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-15, 25-18.

Aaron Crocker paced University's offense, picking up seven kills. Crocker got some help from Logan Calderon and his 13 assists. Finally, Joshua Norton kept University's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Marc Francis Callejas, who had 17 digs and two assists. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last nine games he's played. Nicholas Bedoya also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

University is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15. As for Bishop Moore, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Colonial on the 16th. As for Bishop Moore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Winter Park on the 16th.
