Recap: Lewis County Lions vs. Russell Red Devils
The Lewis County Lions fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Russell Red Devils on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 54-52. Lewis County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Russell apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Russell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Neel, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Burgess, who scored ten points.
Lewis County now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Russell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
Lewis County will head out on the road to face off against Villa Madonna at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Russell won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ironton at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Ironton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 67.6 points per game.
