Football Game Preview: Horseheads Blue Raiders vs. Owego Free Academy River Hawks + How To Watch

The Horseheads Blue Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Owego Free Academy River Hawks at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Horseheads was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Binghamton on Friday. The Blue Raiders breezed past the Patriots to the tune of 60-14. The contest marked the Blue Raiders' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Owego Free Academy got themselves on the board against Johnson City on Friday, but Johnson City never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 20-0 victory. Given the River Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Wildcats are ranked 291st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Owego Free Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.8 points on average over those games. As for Horseheads, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3.

Horseheads might still be hurting after the 35-14 defeat they got from Owego Free Academy in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Blue Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
