Soccer Recap: Galena Park Takes a Loss

Galena Park had taken Sharpstown down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Sharpstown Apollos who were credited with the win. The Sharpstown Apollos got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Galena Park Yellowjackets' two. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Apollos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in January.

Galena Park has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. Sharpstown's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Galena Park will venture away from home to take on Westbury at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sharpstown, they will host Carnegie Vanguard at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Sharpstown will be up against Carnegie Vanguard's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.64 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
