Recap: Gateway Olympians vs. Westminster Wolves

Even though the Westminster Wolves scored an imposing 64 points on Saturday, the Gateway Olympians still came out on top. Gateway took their contest against Westminster 72-64. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as Gateway did.

Hayden Von Boeckman was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 25 points along with six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Von Boeckman has scored at least 25% of Gateway's points. Oriel Bailey was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.

Westminster's loss came despite strong showings from Daigan Gray and Hunter Goll. Gray scored 24 points along with eight rebounds, while Goll dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Goll also pulled down eight+ rebounds for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Victoria Morales, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Westminster were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Westminster, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Gateway will head out on the road to face off against Fairview at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Fairview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. Westminster and Bear Creek will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bear Creek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westminster in Colorado (Bear Creek is ranked 130th, while Westminster is ranked 284th).
