Softball Recap: Stanton Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Stanton waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Riverside Generals a 15-0 shutout. The Blue Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Generals, too.

Emmalyn Gensch was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bailey Forrest, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Stanton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .548 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Stanton pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Riverside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanton will square off against Eagle's View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eagle's View has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.17 runs per game on average), something Stanton will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Riverside, they will take on Raines at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
