Baseball Recap: American Canyon Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

American Canyon and Clear Lake squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but American Canyon had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 11-9.

Dylan Brown was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Matias Garcia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Isaac Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

American Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Clear Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

American Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clear Lake, they will be playing at home against Las Lomas at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals are on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Knights a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
