Basketball Preview: Atlanta Jewish Academy Jaguar vs. Oak Mountain Academy Warriors
The Atlanta Jewish Academy Jaguar will head out on the road to take on the Oak Mountain Academy Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, Atlanta Jewish Academy came up short against the and fell 58-48. Atlanta Jewish Academy has struggled against the recently, as their game on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zac Agichtein, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Edan Eyal, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Oak Mountain Academy came tearing into last Saturday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Forest by a score of 54-41. With that win, Oak Mountain Academy brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Brandon Bain was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yann Kelp, who scored four points along with five steals and two blocks.
Atlanta Jewish Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Oak Mountain Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Atlanta Jewish Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Oak Mountain Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.5 rebounds per game.
