Recap: Hoke County Bucks vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers
The Hoke County Bucks were the 63-60 winner over the Southern Lee Cavaliers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hoke County took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern Lee on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Hoke County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Southern Lee is ranked 88th).
Jaylen Sturdivant and Salah Sutton certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Sturdivant scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Sutton scored 21 points. Sturdivant hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games.
Hoke County's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Southern Lee, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Hoke County will head out on the road to square off against Union Pines at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Union Pines will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Southern Lee will take on Penrith Group (Penrith, Australia) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
