South Adams proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 14) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Madison-Grant Argylls 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Starfires, who have now won seven contests in a row.

Addie Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Adams secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Bekah Patterson, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

South Adams' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Madison-Grant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season.
