Basketball Game Preview: Libertas Academy Charter Lions vs. Cheney Tech Beavers

The Libertas Academy Charter Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Cheney Tech Beavers at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Libertas Academy Charter can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home back in December of 2024. They fell to Windsor Locks 82-78. The Lions' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Cheney Tech won against Academy of Science and Innovation two weeks ago with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Cheney Tech enjoyed a cozy 57-39 victory over Prince RVT. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Beavers.

Cheney Tech's win came from a few key players Libertas Academy Charter will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kanye Pitts, who posted ten points and five steals. Those five steals gave him a new career-high. Mohamed Camara was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Cheney Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prince RVT only pulled down 11 offensive boards.
