Basketball Recap: Lone Star Comes Up Short

Lone Star played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 71-50 to the Front Range Baptist Falcons. The Longhorns have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Lone Star lost, don't look at Grant Kuntz. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists. Kuntz is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anderson Weathers, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points and five boards.

Benjamin VanDenBerghe went supernova for Front Range Baptist, going 9-for-14 on his way to 19 points and five steals. Caden Hansen also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Lone Star's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Front Range Baptist, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Lone Star will challenge Fleming at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Front Range Baptist has already played their next matchup (against Peetz), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
