Baseball Recap: Master's Academy Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Master's Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Westminster Academy Lions by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 11-3 victory the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Nate Downey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Downey wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Bell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Master's Academy pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Westminster Academy, they moved to 10-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Master's Academy will face off against Scott County at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Westminster Academy, they will square off against Coral Shores at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westminster Academy 4, Coral Shores 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
