Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Patriots vs. Rocky Mountain Grizzlies

Centennial is 1-9 against Rocky Mountain since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Centennial Patriots will challenge the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Thursday, Centennial ended up a good deal behind Kuna and lost 58-42. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain faced Owyhee in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Rocky Mountain was outmatched by Owyhee and fell 60-32. The Grizzlies' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Loss or not, Rocky Mountain got some senior leadership from Logan Sailors and Makenna Giberson. Sailors went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and six boards, while Giberson posted seven points and three steals. That was a full 40.6% of Rocky Mountain's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Rocky Mountain, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-9.

Centennial came up short against Rocky Mountain in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 54-46. Can Centennial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
