            Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Wolves vs. Marquez Gladiators        
        
		
        
        
            If Sotomayor was feeling good  fresh off their  70-50 takedown of Maywood Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sotomayor Wolves came up short against  the Marquez Gladiators on Monday, falling  59-35. The  defeat   continues a  trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Gladiators: they've now lost four in a row.
 Marquez's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Cravon Charles, who  dropped  a double-double with 12  points and 11  rebounds. Charles is also on a roll when it comes to  field goal percentage, as he's  posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's  played.  Elyjah Staples was another key player,  dropping  a double-double with 13 points and 11  boards.
Sotomayor's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Marquez, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record  this season.
 Looking ahead, Sotomayor will square off against Maywood CES at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Sotomayor is facing Maywood CES at the right time seeing as Maywood CES is stuck on  a  13-game losing streak. As for Marquez, they will venture away from home to  square off against Elizabeth  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Marquez is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5  points per game  this season.
