Baseball Game Preview: Wise Pumas vs. Laurel Spartans

The Wise Pumas will head out to face off against the Laurel Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses dating back to last season for Wise and five for Laurel dating back to last season.

Things were looking good for Wise after they put the first points on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 11-1 to Eleanor Roosevelt.

Wise saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kameron Cofer, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Laurel came up short against High Point on Monday, falling 15-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered against the Eagles since April 10, 2018.

Wise's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Laurel, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.

Wise suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Laurel when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Wise avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
