After only one run in their last game, Smith County made sure to put some runs up on the board against York Institute on Wednesday. The Owls put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Riley Martin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Claywell, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Smith County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Smith County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for York Institute, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 12-8 record.
