Baseball Recap: Salmon Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Jefferson on Saturday, Salmon came back down to earth. The Savages came up short against the Firth Cougars on Monday, falling 10-2. The Savages were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Salmon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Baumer, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Baumer has hit this season.

Salmon has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6-1 record this season. As for Firth, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5.

Coming up, Firth will head out on the road to take on Challis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. Salmon will be paying especially close attention to Firth's match: after Firth faces off against Challis, they'll take on Salmon again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
