Preview: Frontier Academy Wolverines vs. Highland Huskies
The Frontier Academy Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Highland Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Frontier Academy has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Highland will arrive with four straight victories.
Frontier Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Brush on the road and fell 62-24.
Despite the loss, Frontier Academy had strong showings from Emily Gesick, who scored ten points, and Aaliyah Richardson, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Highland put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Platte Valley as Highland made off with a 66-44 victory. Given Highland's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Platte Valley is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Frontier Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Highland, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
Frontier Academy was taken down by Highland 67-32 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Frontier Academy was down 42-15.
