Basketball Recap: Florence Huskies vs. Ellicott Thunderhawks
The Florence Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ellicott. Florence has struggled against the Thunderhawks recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Claire Bosley and Annabelle Reese certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Bosley scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Reese scored eight points along with three steals.
Ellicott got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kassiah Ducworth out in front who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ducworth has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacey Lujan, who scored 12 points along with eight steals.
Florence dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Ellicott, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.
Florence will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ellicott, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Thunderbolts at 3:00 p.m. Rye comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
