Softball Recap: Franklin Monroe Takes a Loss

Franklin Monroe extended their losing streak to nine on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Ansonia Tigers. If the Jets were looking for revenge after losing 5-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Ansonia, they now have a winning record of 9-8. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Ansonia's part, they got a great performance from Bre Walker as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miley Walls, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Addie Geyer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin Monroe will face off against Greeneview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ansonia, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Tri-County North at 5:00 p.m.
