Basketball Recap: Pasquotank County Skates Past Manteo with Ease

Pasquotank County won the last time they faced Manteo and things went their way on Monday too. The Pasquotank County Panthers claimed a resounding 82-53 victory over the Manteo Redskins.

Leading Pasquotank County to victory were Branden Smith and Jamari Seymore. Smith went 8 of 9 on his way to 19 points and six boards, while Seymore went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. That's the most blocks Seymore has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayon Harris, who posted ten points.

Pasquotank County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Manteo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zay Banks put up 14 points and eight boards. Markus Simmons also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Pasquotank County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Manteo, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pasquotank County will head out to challenge Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Manteo, they are taking a road trip to face off against Holmes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
