Softball Preview: Agape Christian Knights vs. Century Centurions
After both having extra time off, the Agape Christian Knights and the Century Centurions will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Agape Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Century will be coming in after a defeat.
Two weeks ago, Agape Christian got the win against Meridian by a conclusive 14-4.
Summerlee Elders made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Elders was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Agape Christian got a massive performance out of McKenlee Miller, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lilly Frick, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Century was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. Their rough 17-5 defeat to Harrisburg might stick with them for a while.
Allie Sauerbrunn was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Agape Christian pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Century, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-6 record last season and are now at 1-5.
