Baseball Recap: Plattsburgh Triumphs

Plattsburgh came out on top against Northeastern Clinton on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Hornets walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Cougars. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Braeden Calkins made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic DeAngelo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Nate Baker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Plattsburgh's record now sits at 8-5. As for Northeastern Clinton, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Plattsburgh beat the Cougars by a score of 5-0 on Tuesday.
