Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Mitchell Kernels

The Roosevelt Rough Riders just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Mitchell Kernels at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Roosevelt came up short against Washington and fell 55-42. The loss continues a trend for the Rough Riders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Mitchell came tearing into Friday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.9 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over the Governors. Given the Kernels' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Governors are ranked 59th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mitchell's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Roosevelt came up short against Mitchell when the teams last played back in January, falling 42-38. Can Roosevelt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
