Soccer Recap: Clayton Takes a Loss

If Clayton was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of East Wake on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Comets came up short against the Apex Friendship Patriots on Saturday, falling 7-3. Both teams had to tread carefully at times as the refs weren't afraid to hand out yellow cards: Holden Hayward was handed one for Clayton, while Apex Friendship got theirs courtesy of Leon Bertoncino.

Clayton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2-1. As for Apex Friendship, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3-3 record this season.

Clayton will be playing at home against Fuquay - Varina at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be Clayton's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Apex Friendship, they will head out on the road to square off against Jordan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
