Softball Recap: Biggsville West Central Takes a Loss

Biggsville West Central's tournament run continued when they took on Seneca on Friday. The Heat fell just short of the Fighting Irish by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Heat have lost by just one run.

Miley Stimpson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Biggsville West Central and nudges their season record down to 27-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Seneca, their victory bumped their record up to 30-1.

Looking ahead, Biggsville West Central will square off against Riverdale at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Heat surely won't give up without a fight. As for Seneca, they will take on Mercer County at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Irish are facing the Golden Eagles at the right time seeing as the Golden Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
