Basketball Recap: Buena Vista's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Buena Vista lost against Westview back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buena Vista Bison lost to the Westview Wolverines on the road by a 68-50 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Wolverines are ranked sixth).

Defeat or not, Buena Vista got some senior leadership from Brandon Jarmon and LC Doss. Jarmon went 6 of 13 en route to 20 points, while Doss posted 15 points and seven boards. Doss' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Junior Banister, who scored six points.

Westview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amir Martin led the charge by putting up nine points and five assists. Another player making a difference was John Sims IV, who put up eight points and three steals.

The loss snapped Buena Vista's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-7 record. As for Westview, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Buena Vista has already played their next game (against Elkhorn South), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Westview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-66 victory against Bellevue West on the 28th.
