Baseball Recap: City College Wins Going Away Against Mergenthaler Vo-Tech

City College won the last time they faced Mergenthaler Vo-Tech and things went their way on Monday too. The Black Knights were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Black Knights, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Anthony Marsico made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Marsico was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Kim, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. City College is undefeated when Kim posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Theo Simms, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

City College was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive contests.
