Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Dragons vs. Sickles Gryphons

Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Sickles recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jefferson Dragons will face off against the Sickles Gryphons at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Jefferson fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Chamberlain on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Storm by a score of 8-7.

Madisen Fleming spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Amaris Dominguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Anais Ortiz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Sickles lost 15-5 to Wharton on Thursday.

Briana Browder was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Alyssa Locicero, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Jefferson's record now sits at 1-1. As for Sickles, their record now sits at an identical 1-1.
