Monte Vista Christian never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Pajaro Valley on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Grizzlies. Considering the Mustangs have won eight matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Alvarado was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gianna Johnson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Monte Vista Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Stevenson's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Monte Vista Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-14.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Stevenson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Monte Vista Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
