Recap: Hollins Royals vs. Pinellas Park Patriots

This season hasn't been kind to the Hollins Royals, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They fell just short of Pinellas Park by a score of 40-38. Hollins lost against Pinellas Park in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 43-22 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Hollins saw an underclassman step up: Summer Morgan scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Morgan also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Danaja Moss was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hollins were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Hollins bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.6 points per game. As for Pinellas Park, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollins won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Largo at 8:00 p.m. on December 7th. Hopefully Largo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Wednesday. As for Pinellas Park, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Tarpon Springs at 7:00 p.m. Tarpon Springs comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
