Softball Recap: Waverly Has No Trouble Against Ludington

While Waverly didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Ludington Orioles 16-1 on Saturday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Sydney Sutton was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Sutton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was McKenna Bensinger, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Waverly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Waverly's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Ludington, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Waverly will host DeWitt at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ludington, they will head out on the road to face off against Onekama at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
