Softball Recap: Windsor Comes Up Short

Windsor had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-15 to make it six. They came up short against the Ellington Knights, falling 15-0. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

As for Ellington, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Ellington, who have now won 13 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Ellington's part, Tyla Gambacorta was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Gambacorta has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kashish Koul was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Madison Havener was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windsor will face off against East Hartford at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ellington, they will challenge Windsor Locks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
