Basketball Recap: Nick Zincone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Carolina Forest over Myrtle Beach

Carolina Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Myrtle Beach Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-38 back in January.

Carolina Forest lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nick Zincone, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and three blocks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in shooting accuracy (71%). Another player making a difference was JJ Gray, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Carolina Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

John Simmons continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Myrtle Beach, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Simmons has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Matthew Campbell was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Carolina Forest's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Myrtle Beach, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Conway is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. As for Myrtle Beach, they will square off against North Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Myrtle Beach also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53 points per game.
