Basketball Game Preview: Sahuaro Cougars vs. Tucson High Magnet School Badgers

Sahuaro and Tucson High Magnet School are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Sahuaro Cougars will be playing at home against the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sahuaro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Tucson High Magnet School likes a good challenge.

Sahuaro picked up another tournament win back in December of 2024. They took their game with ease, bagging a 67-39 win over Ironwood Ridge. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 25 points or more this season.

Cisco Llamas was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points along with seven steals and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Santini, who posted five points.

Sahuaro was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ironwood Ridge only racked up four assists.

Meanwhile, Tucson High Magnet School faced Perry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Tucson High Magnet School lost to Perry at home by a 64-48 margin. It was the first time this season that the Badgers let down their fans at home.

Tucson High Magnet School's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Sahuaro, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
