The Brown County Hornets will face off against the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Sacred Heart-Griffin took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Brown County, who comes in off a win.
Brown County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past North Greene 16-9 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Nena Boylen was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranessa Wort, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Brown County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart-Griffin fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Springfield on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Senators by a score of 2-1. The Cyclones have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kenzie Wieland was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 19 batters over 9.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Maggie Wichmann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Brown County's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Brown County took their win against Sacred Heart-Griffin in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
