Volleyball Recap: Dunlap's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of four wins, Dunlap's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Peoria Notre Dame Irish by a score of 2-1. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Dunlap sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-27, 25-19.

Rebecca Lopez paced Dunlap's offense, picking up nine kills. Lopez got some help from Caroline Holmes and her 16 assists. Finally, Sam Matheny kept Dunlap's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Dunlap's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Dunlap has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against East Peoria on the 16th. Peoria Notre Dame has also already played their next game (against Danville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
