Belton triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Kordell Williams

Recap: Belton Pirates vs. Smith-Cotton Tigers
The Belton Pirates's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against Smith-Cotton by a score of 69-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Belton can attribute much of their success to Kordell Williams, who scored 28 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Jw Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 4 steals.
The win got Belton back to even at 1-1. As for Smith-Cotton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belton will take on Staley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smith-Cotton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hickman at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Hickman's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
