Softball Game Preview: Butler Bears vs. Sacred Heart Valkyries

The Butler Bears will head out to challenge the Sacred Heart Valkyries at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Butler fell victim to Male and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Bulldogs. The Bears have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Atherton.

The team relied heavily on Isabella Boyd, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Dierking, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sacred Heart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sacred Heart, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Butler skirted past Sacred Heart 5-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Does Butler have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sacred Heart turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
