Softball Recap: Grant Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Grant won the last time they faced Reed City and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers blew past the Coyotes 12-4. Considering the Tigers have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Payton Shoemaker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Shoemaker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Alexa Obenauf was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Reese Gragg, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Grant's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Reed City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Grant will take on Montague at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Reed City, they are taking a road trip to square off against St. Francis on Saturday.
