Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial and Basic squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Centennial had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tyler Jackson was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Otis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 20-13. As for Basic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Centennial and Basic are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bulldogs will challenge Las Vegas at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Centennial's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Basic, they will square off against Faith Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
