Basketball Game Preview: Libertyville Wildcats vs. Lake Zurich Bears

Libertyville is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Lake Zurich is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Libertyville Wildcats will welcome the Lake Zurich Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Libertyville was able to grind out a solid win over Stevenson, taking the game 39-32.

Meanwhile, Lake Zurich won against Wheaton North on Monday with 43 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Lake Zurich walked away with a 43-35 victory over Waukegan. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Libertyville has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Lake Zurich, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.

Libertyville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lake Zurich in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-41 victory.
