Basketball Game Preview: Patrick County Cougars vs. Blacksburg Bruins

The Patrick County Cougars and the Blacksburg Bruins will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Blacksburg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Patrick County, who comes in off a win.

Patrick County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 46-21 margin over Dan River. The Cougars pushed the score to 42-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Blacksburg lost to Patrick Henry at home by a 66-47 margin on Tuesday. The Bruins haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Patrick County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Blacksburg, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Patrick County beat Blacksburg 40-31 in their previous meeting back in January of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Patrick County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
