Flag Football Recap: Marissa Farace and Gabi Thomas Secure Win for Grossmont + How To Watch

Granite Hills typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Grossmont proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 26-18 victory over the Eagles. The win continues a trend for the Foothillers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

A big part of Grossmont's victory came down to the chemistry between Marissa Farace and her top target Gabi Thomas. Farace threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Thomas gained 125 total yards. Thomas also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending one pass.

One reason for the win was Grossmont's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Emma Hernanadez was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last eight games she's played.

Grossmont's record now sits at 15-3. As for Granite Hills, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Grossmont will challenge rival Santana at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Granite Hills is set to face off against their familiar foe Steele Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 14.2, the Cougars 6.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
