Baseball Recap: Troy Takes a Loss

Troy suffered their biggest loss since April 22nd on Saturday. They lost 17-3 to the Clearwater Valley Rams. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 17-8.

Dominic Holden put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Troy is 9-2 when Holden posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Makhi Durrett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Troy and nudges their season record down to 13-9. As for Clearwater Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Troy nor Clearwater Valley have any future games scheduled.
