Baseball Recap: Statesville Christian Wins Going Away Against Salem Baptist Christian

Statesville Christian barely beat Salem Baptist Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Vikings on Tuesday. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

Toby Stewert and Jeremy Todd were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stewert pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Todd tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Stewert scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Todd scored four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave Todd a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Nielsen, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Statesville Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Salem Baptist Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
