Softball Recap: Avon Park Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lakeland last Monday, Avon Park came back down to earth. Avon Park fell just short of the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. If the Red Devils were looking for revenge after losing 19-2 to the Cowboys/Cowgirls when the teams met back in February of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Avon Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Hicks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Hicks is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

Avon Park's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for LaBelle, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7.

Coming up, Avon Park will venture away from home to take on Clewiston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for LaBelle, they will host Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. LaBelle's pitchers better be ready for this one: Lake Placid has averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
