Baseball Recap: Devine Takes a Loss

Devine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 18-4 to the Bandera BULLDOGS. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warhorses of the 6-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Alfredo Ramirez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. Devine is 2-1 when Ramirez posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-7-1 otherwise.

Devine's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-1. As for Bandera, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Devine will challenge Jourdanton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jourdanton will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Devine surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bandera, they will square off against Fredericksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Bandera has won four straight at home, while Fredericksburg won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
